TAIWAN’S MAJOR computer components assembler and netbook manufacturer Asustek has discovered a virus infesting all of its Eee Box PCs sold in Japan and is recalling them. The virus is called “recycled.exe” and was loaded onto the systems along with the machines’ software tailored for the Japanese market, according to ASUS representative Li Yusheng. Hidden in the Eee Box “D” drive until the system is initialised by the buyer, the virus copies itself to the “C” drive and any removable or USB drives that are connected. It slows down the computer and might attempt to download more dangerous malware over the Internet….
